Events

The Annual Academic Prize-Giving Ceremony of St. Joseph's College (“the Ceremony”) is held every year and it serves to reward the hard work of our school's top performers, both internally and also in public examinations. The Ceremony also aims to promote healthy competition among students, and at the same time bringing up an important message: self-improvement. The prizes presented each year include awards and also scholarships. Outstanding students who achieved brilliant results in the HKDSE are, without doubt, admitted to the SJC Academic Honour Roll.

This year the Ceremony was successfully held on the 26th September, 2021 (Sunday) and 28th September, 2021 (Tuesday), in the New Hall of St. Joseph's College at 7 Kennedy Road. We are pleased to have Professor Lee Chack Fan, who is an alumnus of the Class of 1963, to be our Guest-of-Honour this year.

Professor Lee, together with our school's Supervisor, Brother Jeffrey Chan, our school's Alternate Supervisor, Mr. Perrick Ching, our Principal, Ms. YF Wong, the benefactors and sponsors of our awards and scholarships presented, and many other guests were present at the Ceremony. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Professor Lee and all the guests for participating in the Ceremony and also their support to our school.

In addition, we would also like to express our gratitude, on behalf of our fellow Josephians, to all the teachers for their effort, patience, inspiration and encouragement. Yet there are also unsung heroes who have worked silently in the background. It is their contribution that has helped our Josephians to perform well. They are the parents of our school's students. These heroes provide support on a 24x7x365 basis and there is no time out for them.

Finally, we would like to again congratulate our prize winners for their outstanding academic attainments in the past school year and we would also wish them success in the upcoming school year.

The Inter-class Board Decoration Competition is an event where classes design a banner, with regards to the topic, to be put up on the class board. The topic is closely related to our school environment and our community. Students may also establish moral values in life, and reflect on their contribution to the school and community as a whole. The adjudicators will then rate the banners and rank the classes according to their performance, with each form having their ranking. We hope that Josephians can be instilled with a sense of belonging to SJC and community when creating an artwork that will improve their learning environment and be appreciated by their classmates and peers.

The Clean School Campaign is a competition during which adjudicators such as teachers and janitors judge the tidiness of the classrooms of our 33 classes twice per school year. This program aims to boost students' awareness of cleanliness and educating students on the importance of maintaining good hygiene habits. Students are reminded to keep their classroom tidy while acquiring hygienic practices. We hope that all the students will perform well in the campaign and strengthen their sense of belonging to the school while keeping the school clean.

The Annual Athletics Meet (Final) Cheering Team Competition is an event where classes compete to cheer for their athletes, displaying the solidarity of the class. Students are encouraged to prepare class-based cheering props such as banners and flags to the sports ground. At the same time, judges will assess the performance of various classes and decide the winners.

The Clean School Campaign is a competition during which adjudicators such as teachers and janitors judge the tidiness of the classrooms of our 33 classes twice per school year. This program aims at boosting students' awareness of cleanliness and educating students the importance of maintaining good hygiene habits. Students are reminded to keep their classroom tidy while acquiring hygienic habits. We wish that all the students will perform well in the campaign and strengthen their sense of belonging to the school while keeping the school clean.

Joyful Fruit Week is an occasion where activities aiming to promote healthy eating habits are held. Different events and fun activities throughout the week are used to arouse students' interest in fruits and vegetables, as well as to encourage them to develop a habit of consuming such foods regularly to improve their health.

The S6 Graduation Ceremony is a grand celebration of our school's S6 students. They are looking forward to becoming contributing members of our society. S6 students gather for one last time in the hall with all teachers to reminisce about their joyful memories as well as to celebrate the start of their journey into the next stage of their lives. Classes take turns to have their graduation photos taken on the stage as the students get dressed in graduation gowns to commemorate the end of their secondary school life. Outstanding students and their achievements are showcased, and they will be congratulated by teachers and students. Every year, we are privileged to have several benefactors as well as some prominent OBA and PTA members join us in this delightful event and present the awards to our prize-winners. Honourable guests are invited to this event to share their life experiences and give valuable advice to our young adults. This spectacular ceremony will serve as a memorable and elegant ending to six years of school life in St. Joseph's.
